Some management advisors will conduct analysis and in an almost prescriptive way, layout a revised strategy.  TMG is different.  TMG identifies with you first, what analysis has already been done and what further work, if any, is essential to informing strategy.  Then we agree what analysis you will do, we will do and what is best done collaboratively.  At this stage we are focussed on getting the information to the best possible standard and into the right shape to help inform your management and prepare them for a strategic discussion.

Strategy demands a very wholistic understanding of the relationship between influences - internal and external.  To discuss strategy requires preparation and a series of iterative discussions.  The TMG approach is to work with you and your managers.  Where some management consultants work in relative isolation, we work very closely with you.  After all, it is not our strategy, it is yours.

Many of our clients prefer to develop strategy as a collective process with managers. Our role as management advisor is to help you ensure that by the time managers are working together on strategy, they have already been well and fairly fully, informed. During the strategy discussion, there should be little or no new information coming onto the table. Participants need to be up to speed prior. A good management advisor like TMG helps you and your team into that position efficiently and effectively.

What is new at the meeting is the insight that flows from working together with the information. This well informed dialogue is an opportunity to make new connections; connections for example, between changing industry structure and resource capabilities, between competitive pressures and brand positioning and so on.
